The sleeping position is said to be the most honest body language. Not only can it indicate certain health problems to you, but just like the music you listen to or the way you dress, the sleeping position reveals traits of your personality.

Compared to musical or clothing preferences, which are conscious choices, the preference for a certain sleeping position is unconscious. That’s why they say they show your true personality.

According to studies by British researchers, people sleeping on the left side of the bed tend to be more creative while people sleeping on their stomachs tend to have more erotic dreams. On the other hand, sleeping on the stomach is considered the most unhealthy because it affects the spine and neck. Of the six most common sleeping positions, the healthiest in the back position. Although overnight, many people change their way of sleeping, each person has a preferred, dominant position, and this is determined by individual character.

Fetal position

It is also called the position of the fetus because it mimics the way the fetus squats in the mother’s womb. Thus, people fall asleep sitting on one side, with their knees raised and their back arched. It is the most common sleeping position: about 41% of people sleep this way. Also, twice as many women as men sleep this way.

Psychologists believe that at the level of the subconscious, the fetal position gives a sense of security. Those who sleep in this way are described as people who look closed, and hard, on the outside but are actually sensitive and empathetic. At first glance, they may seem shy and withdrawn, but when they feel at ease, they become warm and friendly.

On the back

Some also call it the “soldier’s” position, because you sleep on your back with your legs straight and your arms outstretched to your body, like a soldier standing upright. People who sleep like this tend to have a more introverted personality. They are usually quiet, and reserved, but have high expectations of both themselves and those around them. According to studies, only 8% of people prefer to sleep like this, and most are young people, aged between 25 and 34 years. Although it has been declared the most restful sleeping position, it is not recommended for those who are overweight or obese because it accentuates sleep apnea and snoring.

Log position

The name “log” was inspired by the way this category of people sleeps: on the one hand, with their hands outstretched next to their bodies. It is the most popular sleeping position after the fetus. According to Dr. Chris Idzikowski, an expert on sleep problems, people who fall asleep are generally friendly, sociable, open-minded people who tend to trust anyone. Although optimism is auspicious, these people also suffer, being a little too gullible.

Log, arms in front

This position involves sleeping on one side, but with your arms outstretched in front. It’s like trying to reach something or someone. The personality of people who sleep like this is similar to the previous one: sociable and friendly, but not as gullible as those who sleep in the log position. Another character trait for this category is that they make harder decisions, but when you do they are final.

On the stomach

Prof. Dr. Chris Idzikowski’s study showed that 7% of people prefer to sleep on their stomachs. The position describes a communicative personality, direct, extroverted, but also sensitive. Usually, people who sleep like this do not accept criticism, make decisions very quickly, and avoid extreme situations.

Starfish position

The rarest sleeping position is the one where you sleep on your back with your arms up. Only 5% of people sleep like that, and they are said to be introverted but compassionate. They are good listeners, and good friends, and always jump for help without claiming any reward.
