CELLULITE IN PREGNANCY: HOW TO ELIMINATE IT WITH TREATMENTS (BUT NOT THESE)
Since there are so many changes that take place inside our bodies during pregnancy, it is normal for a little cellulite or orange peel to appear. We need not worry, because like stretch marks, it is a blemish to be taken into account in the nine months.
If the appearance of the skin makes us uncomfortable, however, we can intervene with some aesthetic treatments against cellulite in pregnancy, such as lymphatic drainage massages.
However, care must be taken, because some treatments that are based on compression of the legs or on heat may not work well during pregnancy: the blood vessels, in fact, are a little more fragile, and it is not unthinkable that the capillaries break.
No, for example, to pressotherapy with leggings that exert differentiated pressures on the thighs and ankles, because the latter could be excessive in this phase of a woman’s life. There is no evidence that pressotherapy in pregnancy is dangerous, but it is better to prefer more “delicate” treatments.
As you know, hot waxing during pregnancy is not recommended: for the same reason, it is better to avoid cellulite treatments that excessively heat the chosen area because they could affect the health of the capillaries.
Body radiofrequency, which is based on the use of a handpiece that heats the area to be treated, should also be avoided.
WHAT TO PREFER AGAINST CELLULITE IN PREGNANCY: YES TO LYMPH DRAINING HAND MASSAGES
With some care to reduce cellulite in pregnancy, the recommended massages are those of the draining type, which are able to help above all against the stagnation of liquids, the true Achilles heel of the nine months of gestation.
It is, therefore, better to prefer a nice lymphatic drainage massage performed by hand, obviously by expert personnel. It would always be better to start with a gentle, light, and delicate massage and then, if necessary, intensify it.
There are no contraindications to anti-cellulite massages during pregnancy but, in fact, it is better to be cautious. Obviously, never lie on your stomach to receive the massage itself, rather we choose one side as if to sleep (experts recommend preferring the left). Yes also to the classic relaxing massage, also called Swedish massage, which is performed on the whole body: it helps to reduce stress and fatigue, which unfortunately often present, especially during the last trimester of gestation.
It has no real power in eliminating cellulite during pregnancy, but it is an aesthetic treatment that can accompany the lymphatic drainage massage, also helping to deflate the feet and ankles.
