Parents need to ask questions about ear piercing

While it is customary for some parents to start piercing their child’s ears very early, this act is not trivial for your baby. Even if the latter requests it, it is important to ask the right questions before having silver or yellow gold earrings placed on a young child. Among them, is that of the place where this procedure will take place which must be hygienic but also the gestures of cleanliness to be respected before complete healing.

At what age can a parent pierce their child’s ears?

If a parent can have their baby’s ears pierced, this is often motivated by aesthetic reasons, others can pose this jewelry by tradition. For the doctor, it is not recommended to do it too early, namely at four or five months. The reason: a child of this age is in full exploration of his body, which can lead to dangerous friction.  “It’s not the right time to put earrings on him, because he risks tearing them off and that can lead to infection,” warns the doctor. The latter recommends waiting until the age of 18 or even 24 months before discussing with the child if he wishes to have costume jewelry in his ears.
